Environmental Engineering education at ITB began on 10 October 1962 as Sanitary Engineering, pioneering environmental engineering higher education in Indonesia. The department adopted the name Environmental Engineering in 1984.
Faculty History
The Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (FTSL) was formerly known as the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning (FTSP), established in 1973. Its academic fields included Civil Engineering, Geodesy, Architecture, Regional Planning, Environmental Engineering, and Art and Design.
Art and Design subsequently became a separate Faculty of Art and Design.
Under ITB Rector’s Decree No. 222/SK/K01/OT/2005 on the management of academic units, the number of faculties and schools increased from seven to eleven. FTSP became the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (FTSL), while Architecture and Regional Planning formed the School of Architecture, Planning and Policy Development (SAPPK).
