Air Quality Laboratory
Field measurements and laboratory analysis connecting air-quality research with practical needs.
Laboratory Overview
The Air Quality Laboratory (Laboratorium Kualitas Udara, LKU) supports Environmental Engineering education and research at ITB. Students, academic staff, and researchers use it to investigate air quality through practical measurement and analysis.
The laboratory also works with government, industry, and research organisations on environmental studies and testing, linking scientific methods with field needs.
Education & Research
Practical Learning
Practical work complements Environmental Engineering teaching.
Research Support
Facilities support PUL research and undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies.
Applied Collaboration
Documented service sectors include government, oil and gas, mining, power generation, and other industries.
Testing & Measurement Services
Documented services span ambient air, emissions, noise, odour, mask quality, and passive sampling. Discuss the applicable method and current testing scope with the laboratory.
Ambient Air Quality
Gaseous pollutants including SO₂, NOₓ, NO₂, O₃ and CO; particulate matter including PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀; dustfall and hydrocarbons.
Emission Measurements
Measurements from mobile sources, such as vehicles, and stationary sources, such as stacks.
Noise Measurements
Environmental noise measurement.
Odour Measurements
Odorous pollutants including ammonia (NH₃) and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S).
Mask Quality Testing
Documented tests include bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE), particle filtration efficiency (PFE), and differential pressure for mask products and materials.
Passive Sampling
Passive-sampler measurements for air-quality studies.
Mask-testing activities are documented in collaboration with the Microbiology and Bioprocess Technology Laboratory, FTI ITB.
