ITB Researchers Present at the Global South WASH Conference in Kathmandu

Dr. Anindrya Nastiti, head of ITB’s Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Environmental Engineering, and Dr. Dyah Wulandari Putri, head of the Undergraduate Program in Environmental Infrastructure Engineering and Master’s Program in Water Supply and Sanitation Infrastructure Management, represented ITB at the Global South WASH Financing & Sustainability Conference. The event took place on 1–3 April 2026 at The Plaza Convention Center in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The conference brought together governments, investors, development partners, and practitioners from the Global South to design sustainable financing pathways for water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). Its six thematic tracks ranged from financing barriers to climate-resilient WASH systems and stronger local governance.

The source article highlights a financing gap compounded by institutional capacity constraints and inefficiencies: almost a quarter of global WASH budgets reportedly remains unspent, while funding shortages continue to threaten equitable and sustainable service provision.

Both ITB representatives contributed as panel discussants and presenters. Dr. Dyah presented on safely managed sanitation, while Dr. Anindrya discussed Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) and its monitoring and evaluation framework. Their work connects urban WASH innovation, equity, and accountability for SDG 6.

Their participation brought Indonesian research and field experience into dialogue with practitioners and policymakers across the Global South, reflecting ITB’s engagement in sustainable sanitation governance.
